This Breckenridge surprise proposal was cold, snowy, and exciting! Talbot got down on one knee, and Payton was immediately shocked. She was genuinely excited and couldn’t stop moving! The ring was impossible to miss—big, unique, and not your typical choice, which I loved. You could tell Talbot put real thought into it, and once she saw it, her excitement doubled. This was a really good proposal in a really beautiful place.

Just when Payton started to wrap her head around the proposal, things took another turn. Her dad and best friend had flown in with her son and were waiting nearby. When they stepped out, it took a second to register, and then she completely lost it. The kind of shock where you laugh, cry, and keep saying “no way” all at once.
It was such a sweet, thoughtful layer to an already big moment. Watching her realize her family was there to celebrate with them made everything feel so much more fun. They took it all in and immediately started calling people they loved to share the news.

I stepped into this session last minute for another photographer. After everything had settled, Payton told me I was her favorite photographer they’d ever worked with, which honestly meant the world. Being trusted with something this important, especially for a couple who traveled all the way from Louisiana for a snowy mountain proposal, is something I never take lightly. It was fun, emotional, and so genuine, and those are always my favorite stories to tell.
