When I think back to Jay and Erica’s Breckenridge Nordic Center wedding, the first thing that comes to mind is how it all started with their engagement session at Piney River Ranch. These two have this easy, joyful kind of love that just radiates.
After I sent over their engagement photos, on one of our calls, Erica said I was their favorite vendor they’d hired. Honestly, that moment still makes my heart swell. It’s one thing to connect through photos, but it’s another to really feel seen by your couples. That’s the good stuff that keeps me doing what I do.
When they told me about their vision for their wedding weekend, it sounded like the perfect reflection of who they are: intimate, intentional, and full of personality. They wanted to bring together both of their heritages, honoring Erica’s Taiwanese roots with a tea ceremony the day before, and celebrating Jay’s culture through some of their favorite desserts. Every part of their weekend was layered with meaning, love, and a little bit of playfulness.
If I could sum up Jay and Erica’s wedding day in one word, it’d be timing. The weather felt like it was in on the plan. It rained all morning. But just when it was time for their first look at Boreas Pass, the clouds literally opened up. It felt like the world just paused to give them that moment. Then, because the weather apparently wanted to keep us on our toes, the rain came back just as we wrapped portraits. By the time guests were seated for their ceremony at the Breckenridge Nordic Center, the sky cleared again. I’m not kidding. The timing couldn’t have been scripted better.
The rest of the day was filled with sweet, thoughtful details that spoke to who Jay and Erica are. Their seating chart was made of little fortune cookies with “we’re so fortunate you’re here” written across the top, which might be one of my favorite ideas ever. Their day was a blend of joy, gratitude, and cultural love that made the whole weekend feel really special.

As guests settled into their seats surrounded by tall pines and mountain air, Jay and Erica’s ceremony felt deeply personal. When they recessed down the aisle, hand in hand, grinning ear to ear, it was impossible not to feel the joy radiating from them.
The celebration continued inside the cozy log lodge of the Breckenridge Nordic Center. Dinner felt like an extended family gathering. By the time the dance floor opened, everyone was on their feet, celebrating with the same energy that had filled the ceremony.
The day that came together exactly as it was meant to. Even the weather seemed to play along, giving us bursts of calm just when we needed them. For me, this wedding will always stand out because of how connected I felt to them. The trust Jay and Erica placed in me meant everything. From their Piney River Ranch engagement session to this perfect Breckenridge celebration, they’ve always let me in, allowed me to document their love authentically, and made me feel like part of their story.
